The Legion regrets to announce another great loss with the passing of Jeremy Gurule (TB-1783) of the 501st Mountain Garrison on the evening of March 10, 2010. Jeremy suffered from a heart condition, but trooped with the Dewback Ridge Squad since 2006. Our deepest sympathies go out to his family and friends. Troop on, brother.

The Legion regrets to announce the loss of Luis Draco (BH-5822) of the 501st Star Garrison. Luis was working as a civilian contractor in Iraq when he was killed by a mortar, leaving behind a daughter and fiancee. Our heartfelt sympathies go out to the family and friends of this Eternal Legionnaire.

Iowa-based photographer Bryan Humphrey was inducted as a Friend of the Legion on February 26, 2010, in recognition of his extensive work supporting the 501st and Rebel Legion with free professional photography at various events. The 501st Central and Midwest Garrisons had the honor of presenting Bryan with his plaque and name badge at a recent Cedar Rapids RoughRiders hockey game where Chris (TK-9772) Andrews successfully proposed to his future wife. The 501st Legion regrets to announce that its participation at the Kennedy Space Center space shuttle launch event planned for April 5, 2010 has been cancelled due to unforeseen circumstances surrounding event coordination. The Legion looks forward to future opportunities to support the Star Wars brand, increase awareness of pediatric cancer through R2-KT and further grow our partnership with NASA. We wish the crew of Discovery (STS-131) a safe and successful mission!
